OGP Founder Michael McGuire is one of four team members selected to participate in the Windows Live Spaces Eco Trip. The “trip” is a national tour to promote sustainable living tied into Microsoft's sponsorship of Live Earth: The Concerts for a Climate in Crisis, taking place across the globe on 7/7/07.
Representatives from Microsoft and event company Mr Youth, LLC auditioned hundreds of applicants in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles before selecting its team members. Michael's background in renewable energy, environmental activism, acting, video production and promotions made him a prime candidate for this eco-adventure.
Starting on June 1, 2007, the team will travel via train and bikes promoting sustainable living habits across the country. Some of the planned activities include replacing the light bulbs in the Salt Lake City Mayor's office with more efficient compact fluorescents, touring a recycling plant in the San Francisco area, and visiting an organic farm in Colorado among many others. The team will eventually work their way back to New York City in time for the Live Earth: New York concert on 07/07/07.
